 Cor blimey! Say it can't be true! Have those fickle Brits gone stark raving bonkers?
How dare they topple 'our Kylie' from her hallowed throne as the reigning Ultimate Gay Icon?
But yes, it appears to be true. La Minogue has been relegated to second place in a poll to determine who wears the diamante-studded crown of gay devotion.
This year, the tiara shall be worn by <gasp> a footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, winger for Manchester United and Portugal, and admittedly, a hunk extraordinaire.
On the surface, this story may seem enough to topple Australian queens into full-blown republicanism – that is, until you read the fine print.
It appears this poll sampled just 3,000 gay men from a dating site called gaygolddiggers, which advertises itself as "exclusive dating where affluent and elegant people meet". Hmmm.
Nonetheless, a spokeswoman for gaygolddiggers seemed enthused about the poll winner.
“Ronaldo’s ripped body, slicked-back hair, shiny white teeth and jewellery swung the votes his way. He looks like any gay man or woman’s dream," she said.
“What with being Footballer of the Year, scoring 42 goals last season and former girlfriends saying he is talented off the pitch, he seems to have everything going for him.”
But he's not our Kylie.
