MILEY CYRUS [EMI]
It’s been a good while since I’ve been deriding of a tween girl (does that annoying Bindi count?) but it’s my duty as a pop reviewer, and as a gay man, to speak up for the under-represented masses. ‘Start All Over’ is plain wrong, with a capital W! Blame it on her genes if you must (having Billy Ray Cyrus as a father would be enough to turn anyone’s stomach inside out) but personally I reckon it’s the sad state of American pop that’s at fault. Their facile attraction to mass-produced, watered down, pre-school Disney punk would have Sid Vicious thrashing in his grave. Super spoilt Gen Zs eat this bland nonsense for breakfast, blindly accepting the ridiculous whitebread Hannah Montana’s marketing push.
Someone. Kill me. Please.
