Coming in at a six-part series with three discs per each pack, the Pure set is your one-stop party-shop. Whether it’s the Pure Summer disc, the Hits, 80s pop, 90s pop, Gold, or the dizzyingly naffly-named Dance Party, per collection there’s 50 tracks apiece that are guaranteed to blow your mind; in a non-discerning, cheap champagne manner anyway. The necessary effect comes across but without the memorable experience.
Your next party’s bubbles come courtesy of anthems from Duran Duran, Vanilla Ice, Louise, Spandau Ballet, Go West, Kajagoogoo and of course, MC Hammer. Then, just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, along come Kenny Rogers, Pilot, Shaggy and Linx. Relief comes by way of slo-groove legends Soul II Soul, Shara Nelson, Loose Ends, Carleen Anderson, and the gorgeous Feargal Sharkey (only joking on that one).
