 CLAY CALLAWAY [CLAY CALLAWAY]
This is what I like to see: a gay man doing all his own gay promotions for his gay record aimed at a gay audience (not that it’s a niche market or anything). Darn it, Baby, That’s Love! is a collection of romantic showtunes usually performed by women for men, but now readapted for a same-sex audience.
It’s not often that pronouns ring true for queer folk, so gorgeous songs like ‘My Superman’, ‘Can’t Help Loving That Friend of Mine’, ‘I Never Loved a Man Before’ and the particularly poignant, ‘You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man’ leaves a wry smile on a cynical face.
