CYNDI LAUPER [EPIC]
Just when we’d finally accepted that turning 50 was the death knell when it came to making a cool pop-dance record, along comes the legendary Miss Lauper, loyal friend to the gay community (she came to Australia and performed at Mardi Gras!) good time gal and sultry singer to boot. Her new album is a cracker, fired up with explosive hits produced by a host of mega-names like Max Martin, Basement Jaxx, Kleerup, Digital Dog, Richard Morel and Scumfrog.
Cyndi’s suave insight into contemporary pop styles and her rather fabulous vocal prowess has led to an album that’s ripe for ecstatic enjoyment. Brink is rich with credible house tunes, fizzy electro styling, brazenly rude pop and grab-a-tissue ballads to finish you off. It’s nothing short of stupendous, and a contender for album of 2008. Go figure!
