“Can’t we just get on with it?” screamed Miranda in the middle of sex. Which got me thinking, when is enough, enough?

Never, if King’s indulgent two and half hour update of the celebrated TV comedy is any indication. Without straying from formula, all the key characters return to rework the material that once distinguished the series.

A decade has passed since columnist Carrie Bradshaw squeezed into her first designer dress, and while the couture is as glamorous as ever, the story is threadbare. Will our princess marry the love of her life? Will Mr Big jilt her at the altar? Who cares?

Sadly, if ticket sales indicate quality, Sex and the City: The Movie will rival Citizen Kane on Top 100 lists the world over.

Clearly the cognoscenti are concerned for the welfare of New York’s celebrated gal-pal fashionistas; though anyone on the out remains out. King wastes no time in developing character or story when there’s Westwood to fluff and puff - it’s all high-points and high heels as brands, brands and more brands trot across the screen.

Placing this much product doesn’t happen quickly. In short, SATC:TM is a Collectors Series extra of unaired episodes. Strictly for undemanding fans and completionists.
