The trailer for Milk, the Gus van Sant film based on the life of assassinated gay San Francisco official Harvey Milk was released this week.

Milk was assassinated at San Francisco City Hall in 1978.

Sean Penn stars as Milk, with co-stars Josh Brolin, James Franco and Emile Hirsch.

Milk is due to be released in the US in November, and Australia in January 2009.
